At Innovative Pools + Landscaping, every backyard we transform carries a story—and it all began with a lawnmower and a dream.

In 1990, Bill Shields was just 18 years old, mowing lawns with grit and hustle. By 1994, with his first child on the way, he knew it was time to level up. Driven by the desire to provide for his growing family, Bill poured everything into his work. One lawn at a time, he built a loyal clientele—some of whom still trust us with their yards today, 35 years later!

Fast forward to 2003: Bill designed and built his very first pool. It wasn’t for a client—it was his own! That project lit a fire. Since then, he’s built hundreds of pools across North Houston, earning a reputation for craftsmanship, creativity, and care. With over two decades of pool-building experience, Bill’s legacy is etched into every tile, every curve, every splash.

And that baby he hustled for back in ’94? Connor Shields is now our Vice President and lead designer. With a sharp eye for aesthetics and a passion for outdoor living, Connor brings fresh vision to every project. From sleek modern pools to lush, resort-style landscapes, he’s the creative force behind our backyard masterpieces.

Together, Bill and Connor represent two generations of dedication, innovation, and family values. What started as a one-man operation has grown into a full-service design and build firm specializing in custom pools, landscaping, and outdoor living spaces.
